In 1700, after nineteen years of study and research including with leading rabbis in Frankfurt and Amsterdam, Johann Andreas Eisenmenger, Professor of Hebrew and Aramaic at the University of Heidelberg, published Entdecktes Judenthum (Judaism Revealed). The entire stock of the book was almost immediately seized by order of the Holy Roman Emperor.
