Blue Steel & Gunleather is a unique book. Never before has there been a detailed discussion about the design, manufacture, and functioning of handgun holsters. Compiled from my thoughts and experiences, as well as information gathered from many leading experts, it attempts to thoroughly develop the theme of the man/gun/holster combination. For the leather designer, extensive practical information is given on trouble-shooting and problem solving for optimal holster functioning. My goal is that whoever uses a handgun can become a safer, more effective shooter after having read this text. Rarely does a handgunner give adequate consideration to the choice of a holster. In addition, while much has been written about choices of handguns, little information is available on how to carry, conceal, or draw the gun. Holsters must be viewed as an integral part of the total handgunning picture. To this end, Blue Steel & Gunleather is organized into a practical guide and a complete story of holsters, from their history, development, and manufacturing to philosophy and applications. The book discusses every handgun use that involves holsters. The book includes nearly 200 photos and illustrations that complement the text. Sequences and serially related presentations are clearly shown step-by-step. My intention is to give the reader the feeling that he has had personal experiences with and understands the situations discussed in the chapters.
